Human bones found in vacant Detroit building
Police have launched a death investigation after human skeletal remains were found Monday inside an abandoned business on Detroit's east side.
The remains were discovered around 10:30 a.m. by a passerby on the 4700 block of East Davison, near McNichols and Mound, said Detroit Police Officer Jennifer Moreno.
"We don't have any idea how long they've been there," she said. "There was a 911 call; someone was cleaning the alley and they looked in the building and saw the remains."
Officials do not know the individual's race, age, sex, cause or time of death, Moreno said.
"We will wait until the medical examiner makes a determination before we launch a homicide investigation or a drug overdose investigation or whatever the case may be," she said.
