A 25-year-old man is in stable condition after allegedly being shot early Sunday morning by his baby’s mother, Detroit police said.

The shooting took place about 5:11 a.m. on the 4000 block of Marseilles, which is north of Mack and west of Moran on Detroit’s east side, said Officer Dan Donakowski, a Detroit Police Department spokesman. The 26-year-old woman told police the victim had assaulted her before she armed herself and shot him.

The man was privately taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Neither party to the shooting has been arrested, Donakowski said.
