Man charged in fatal shooting of brothers on west side

Romulus -- A 42-year-old Detroit man has been arraigned in the April 9 fatal shooting of two brothers.

Aubrey Stanley appeared in 34th District Court in Romulus on Saturday. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm in the deaths of Louis T. Phillips, 28, and Alex D. Stewart, 24, both of Detroit. Officials initially released the suspect's name as Stanley Aubrey.

Stanley is accused of fatally shooting the brothers around 8 p.m. on April 9 in the front yard of a home in the 20000 block of Schaefer.

Police did not release any details on what might have motivated the killings.

Stanley was remanded to jail. He returns to court for a probable cause conference April 25 and a preliminary examination May 2. Both hearings will be before 36th District Judge Lydia Nance Adams.
