Body found at vacant west Detroit home
Detroit police are working to identify a body found Friday at a vacant home on the city’s west side.
The victim was found at about 7:30 p.m. in a garage in the 5000 block of Warwick “fatally wounded with a gunshot to the right side of the head,” investigators said in a statement.
Authorities described the body as belonging to a man believed to be 25-30 years old. He could be the victim of a carjacking reported on Thursday on Stahelin Avenue, about five miles north, police said, but a positive identification has not yet been made. No other details were released Friday night.
Anyone with information on the death is asked to call Detroit Police homicide detectives at (313) 596-2260. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
