Body found in vacant east Detroit home

The Detroit News

Authorities are working to identify a body found Wednesday night at a vacant home on Detroit’s east side.

Police officers on a run discovered the corpse in the 14400 block of Mapleridge at about 10 p.m., said Sgt. Adam Madera, a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department.

It wasn’t immediately clear how long the badly decomposing remains — which appear to belong to a male — had been at the home near Chalmers, he said. An autopsy by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to determine the cause of death.

Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at (313) 596-2260. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
