3 charged in Greektown hotel shooting death
Three men were charged Monday in connection with a fatal shooting in an elevator at the Greektown Casino hotel earlier this month.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged 29-year-old Rodney Pritchett of Detroit, Farmington Hills resident Shawn Wilson, 30, and Carlile Jackson, 30, also of Detroit, with the Dec. 2 slaying of Shunsaiah Glaze.
The shooting occurred around 4:06 a.m. after Pritchett, Wilson and Jackson were involved in a physical altercation with Glaze in a hotel room. Investigators says Glaze left the room and entered an elevator, followed by Pritchett, Jackson and Wilson.
Once inside, Pritchett allegedly fired a gun, striking Glaze in the torso. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Prosecutors have not said what the fight among the men was about.
The prosecutor’s office said Wilson and Jackson tampered with evidence left in the elevator. An investigation by Detroit Police led to the identification and arrest of the defendants, authorities said.
Pritchett was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and felony firearm. He was arraigned Dec. 4.
Wilson and Jackson were arraigned and charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and felony firearm. Wilson was arraigned Dec. 6. Jackson was arraigned Dec. 7.
The trio will have their probable cause cause conference at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 and their preliminary examination Dec. 21, both before Judge Lydia Nance Adams of before 36th District Court.
