Woman charged with robbing Family Dollar
A 22-year-old Detroit woman was arrested Christmas Eve after allegedly stealing socks and makeup from a Family Dollar on the city's west side, then brandishing a utility knife when confronted by store security.
The incident took place about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Family Dollar on the 2300 block of West Grand Boulevard, which is west of Rosa Parks. Police say the suspect allegedly tried to steal items in addition to the socks and makeup before being confronted by loss prevention, police said.
Once confronted, police say, she pulled out a box cutter and held loss prevention at bay. No one was hurt.
The suspect, Khary Felder, was arraigned Wednesday at Detroit's 36th District Court, and given a $20,000 cash-or-surety bond, court record show. She's charged with one count of armed robbery, and is due in the courtroom of Judge Deborah Lewis Langston for a probable cause conference on Jan. 4 at 8:30 a.m. Felder is currently being held inside the Wayne County Jail.
