Deer heart found at Detroit wastewater facility

The Detroit News

On Dec. 23, an organ was found at a wastewater facility in Detroit, the fourth in a month's time. It was a deer heart, the Wayne County Medical Examiner confirmed.

Detroit police were called to the Great Lakes Water Authority’s Water Resource Recovery Facility on West Jefferson on Wednesday on a report that an object that appeared to be an organ had been found, department representatives said.

Three other possible organs had been found earlier in the month at the Great Lakes Water Authority's wastewater facility on the 9300 block of West Jefferson. Those were found on Dec. 15, 16 and 20.

The other three objects are still undergoing testing and have not yet been confirmed as organs by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office, said spokeswoman Lisa Croff.

Authorities are investigating.
