Detroit police seek suspect in shooting on west side

The Detroit News

Detroit— Police are searching for a 27-year-old suspect believed to be involved in a non-fatal shooting that occurred on the city’s west side earlier this month.

Authorities say they believe Micos Davon Welch assisted in the shooting of a 34-year-old man inside a location on the 22000 block of 7 Mile at about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 3.

The other suspect, a 27-year-old man, reportedly got into an argument with the victim and then exited the location with Welch.

Police say Welch then retrieved a handgun from his red SUV and handed it to the other suspect who fired a shot at the victim.

The pair then fled the location in the SUV heading north on Cooley, according to police. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his foot and was treated and released in stable condition.

The second suspect was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 20 on the 200 block of West Lafayette.

Police are now looking for Welch.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Eighth Precinct Investigative Unit at (313) 596-5840 or Crime Stoppers at (800) Speak Up.
