Police: Teen boy, 16, shot while sitting on couch

A 16-year-old Detroit boy was shot while sitting on a couch in his home early Sunday morning on the city's west side, police said.

The shooting took place at 2:20 a.m. on the 10000 block of Mark Twain, which is south of Plymouth and west of Schaefer. 

Police say the boy was sitting on the couch when a suspect or suspects "fired several shots into the home" from outside. He was struck in the right side of his body.

No update on the boy's condition was immediately available, police said.
