A 61-year-old man was shot in his right ankle Sunday morning in a drive-by on Detroit's west side – and the man's 53-year-old girlfriend and her nephew are suspected of collaborating in the shooting, police said.

The victim and his girlfriend had been arguing. She left, then drove around the block in a black Chevy Impala, and returned with her nephew, who is believed to be 24 to 30 years old, police said. Once the two found the victim, the nephew fired shots from the car, at least one of which connected with the man's right ankle.

The shooting took place 6 a.m. on the 14800 block of Littlefield, south of Fenkell and east of Schaefer.

After being privately conveyed to an area hospital, the victim was in temporary serious condition, police said.
