Woman severely injured in hit-and-run on west side
Detroit police are trying to identify a woman who suffered severe head trauma in a hit-and-run car crash Sunday morning on the city's west side.
The crash took place at 5 a.m. at Joy Road and Evergreen, police say, and involved a 2012 Dodge Charger and a 2006 Chevy Impala driven by the victim.
The black Dodge Charger was driving on Joy Road and blew a red light, hitting the Impala on the driver's side.
The impact pushed the Impala into the Family Dollar on the 19800 block of Joy Road, where it came to rest.
Medics arrived and transported the woman to an area hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Dodge Charger fled the scene.
