Woman, 33, assaulted and robbed at west side home
A 33-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at gunpoint and robbed at her home on Detroit's west side early Thursday morning, police said.
The armed robbery and sexual assault took place about 2:30 a.m. on the 14000 block of Woodmont, said Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That's north of Schoolcraft and east of the Southfield Freeway.
A man, believed to be in his 20s, and standing 5-feet-9-inches to 6-feet-tall, wearing a black skull cap with a Jumpman logo on it, knocked on the woman's door, and when she opened it slightly, he kicked it in, before assaulting the woman sexually, at gunpoint.
The man also stole the woman's wallet, cash and ID, before escaping back out of the front door. He fled in an unknown direction.
Police are investigating.
