Detroit police say woman falsely reported sex assault
A Detroit woman could face charges of falsely reporting a home invasion and sexual assault, police said Friday.
Officers were called Thursday to the woman’s home in the 14000 block of Woodmont. She told them after answering a knock on the door, a man forced his way inside, sexually assaulted her and stole a wallet, investigators said in a statement.
“After detectives investigated this case, it was determined that the incident did not occur, and the female was placed under arrest today for filing a false felony report,” the release said.
A warrant request was expected to be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, authorities said Friday. Other details about the case were not released.
