Detroit police on Friday arrested a woman they allege took the 3-year-old daughter of whom she does not have custody.

Lucia Perry, 34, was arrested Friday after allegedly taking her daughter, who she does not have custody of.

The girl, Shonnell Perry, was with a 17-year-old half-brother Thursday night in the 20500 block of Biltmore when her mother, Lucia, came to the home and asked to use the restroom, investigators said in a statement. Her father, who has custody, was not there at the time.

The teen went upstairs but when he returned, Lucia Perry, who is described as schizophrenic, and the child were gone, police reported.

Authorities issued an alert early Friday seeking tips to find the pair.

Shonnell Perry, 3.

Acting on information from a citizen, officers recovered the girl at about 3 p.m. in the 20000 block of Ferguson and took her mother into custody without incident for parental kidnapping.

“Great job to the men and women in blue who worked around the clock, into the night, and in the cold, to ensure that recovery of this small child,” officials said in a statement.
