Reward offered for tips in WMU cheerleader’s slaying
Crime Stoppers of Michigan has announced a $2,500 reward to spur tips in an Detroit native’s death in a drive-by shooting last year.
Damond Carpenter and two friends were sitting in his 1999 burgundy Buick Century outside the Eastland Court Apartments near Cadieux and Morang when someone opened fired at about 6 p.m. Dec. 22, police reported.
The Western Michigan University cheerleader, who had been home on holiday break, was headed out Christmas shopping. He died at the scene.
The 18-year-old’s friends were wounded.
If a tip leading to an arrest is received by midnight Thursday, Crime Stoppers plans to add $1,000 to the reward.
