Man, 21, found dead from gunshot wound to chest
A woman entering her northwest Detroit home early Friday morning found the front door ajar and then discovered the body of her 21-year-old relative lying on the living room floor.
The discovery was made at 2:30 a.m. Friday in a home in the 17300 block of Braile Street in the Old Redford section of the city, Detroit police spokesman Dontae Freeman said.
“The victim was a black male in his 20s,” Freeman said. “A female family member arrived at the location and found the victim on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.”
Medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene, Freeman said.
The killing was the 38th homicide in 2018, according to Detroit police statistics — the same number year-to-date as last year, when the city recorded the fewest number of criminal homicides since 1966.
