Reward offered in New Year’s slaying in Detroit
Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering up to $2,500 for tips to solve a New’s Day shooting that killed a 24-year-old man.
Javon Green had just arrived with friends in the 800 block of State Fair on the city’s northeast side at about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1 when someone dressed in red approached their Chevy Silverado and opened fire, investigators said in a statement Thursday.
Green, who spent four years as a resident specialist at the Detroit Rescue Mission, was struck at least once and died at a hospital, according to the release.
If a tip that leads to an arrest is received by midnight Thursday, Crime Stoppers plans to add $1,000 to the award.
