Boy, 4, hurt in hit and run in Detroit
A 4-year-old boy was injured Monday in a hit-and-run accident on Detroit’s east side.
The boy and his mother had gone to a home in the 5300 block of Nottingham at about 7 p.m., investigators said in a statement.
When the mother went across the street, “the victim exited the rear of the car and stepped into the street and was struck” by a PT Cruiser, the release read.
The driver fled the scene. Relatives rushed the boy to a hospital, where he was listed in temporary serious condition.
Later, the driver, identified as a 20-year-old woman, “arrived at hospital,” the police statement said. Police did not clarify if she arrived at the hospital where the victim was taken.
She was in custody late Monday.
