Detroit police are trying to identify a suspect after a 30-year-old man was shot outside of an eastside liquor store minutes after closing time early Tuesday morning.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of Liquor Island, said Officer Dan Donakowksi, a Detroit Police Department spokesman, and started with an argument inside the store.

Police say the victim and another man had a "verbal dispute" inside the store, which carried over into the parking lot, where the other man fired shots, at least one of which struck the victim in his upper torso.

After being privately conveyed to an area hospital, the victim was listed in temporary serious condition.

No detailed suspect description is immediately available.
