Man charged for shooting woman during dog attack
A Detroit man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a woman who was being attacked by a dog.
Authorities say Michael Lewis Williams, 61, fired a shot on Oct. 9 toward Patricia Ann Cosby, 55, in an attempt to help her stop a dog that was attacking her.
The bullet struck Cosby, and Williams proceeded to chase the dog, firing two more shots. When Williams returned to the scene on the 9500 block of Goodwin Street, he saw she was hit, police said.
Cosby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Williams was charged with careless discharge of a weapon causing injury or death.
He was arraigned Friday in 36th District Court.
His probable cause conference is set for 8:30 a.m. March 26.
