Michigan State Police are investigating an early Friday morning crash between a semi-tractor trailer and a sports utility vehicle on Interstate 75 at Holbrook in Detroit.

Officials said the crash happened at about 4 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed the SUV was speeding on southbound I-75 near Holbrook when the driver lost control, swerved into the path of the semi and was struck, officials said.

The SUV rolled over and then struck the embankment, police said.

They also said the vehicle's three occupants were taken to a hospital. The driver and one of the passengers sustained only minor injuries, according to officials, but the second passenger is in critical condition.

Police said the semi's driver was uninjured.

During their investigation, troopers found marijuana and a stolen gun in the SUV, they also said.
