A 22-year-old man was shot in his stomach and had his Dodge Challenger stolen Tuesday night on Detroit's east side.

At about 10 p.m. Tuesday, the victim and his brother were in separate cars at a liquor store in the area of Conner and Shoemaker, said Dontae Freeman, a Detroit Police Department spokesman.

Then a car, believed to be a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, pulled up, and two men got out.

After a brief conversation with the victim, one of the suspects approached the driver's side door and fired a shot, which hit the victim in his stomach. Then the suspects fled with the victim's newer model Dodge Challenger.

The victim's brother privately transported him to an area hospital, where he is listed in temporary serious condition.

Police are investigating.
