The Detroit Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a male and female pair who allegedly scammed an elderly woman in early March with an "investment" opportunity that ended in a theft.

On the afternoon of March 6, on the 20000 block of West Seven Mile, the victim, a 77-year-old woman, was approached by a 60-year-old man, who asked if she'd like to join an "investment group."

A woman, about 45, vouched for the man, telling the victim she knew him from church, police said.

As the victim finished pumping gas and got into her car, the female suspect entered the car, with her hand in the woman's pocket, and told her to drive to the Bank of America at Oakman and Livernois and to withdraw money.

After making the withdrawal, the female suspect told the victim to drive to Seven Mile and Evergreen, where they'd meet the male suspect, but he never appeared. The female suspect then snatched the money from the victim and fled on foot.
