Detroit man charged in shooting of 3-year-old
A Detroit man was charged with shooting a 3-year-old girl after an argument at a gas station.
The girl, who wasn’t identified, is in critical condition at a local hospital being treated for a gunshot wound to the head, said police.
Exel Taylor, 24, allegedly shot the girl Saturday after getting into an argument with another man in the gas station in the 15900 block of Livernois Avenue, said Detroit police. The two men left the store and the argument turned physical.
Taylor allegedly went to his car, retrieved a weapon and began shooting at the man, said police. One of the shots struck the 3-year-old girl, who was in a car driven by her mother. The mother called 911.
Taylor fled on foot and was arrested by Detroit police later that day.
He is charged with four counts of felony firearm and three counts of assault with intent to commit murder, carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle, and carrying a weapon with unlawful intent.
