A 21-year-old man is in temporary serious condition after being shot early Monday morning on Detroit's east side.

The shooting took place about 5:15 a.m. on the 15600 block of Maddelein, which is just north of East Seven Mile and west of Kelly. Police say the victim pulled up to the location, and two unknown vehicles pulled up.

An armed man got out of one of the vehicles and opened fire on the victim, hitting him twice.

Medics transported the victim to the hospital, where he is listed in temporary serious condition.

Monday's shooting is at least the third in the area in the last week.

Saturday night, about 11 p.m. on the 16200 block of Lappin, a 30-year-old man was fatally shot in the head after being chased by another man. He fell into a driveway and was shot in the head.

On Easter Sunday, 17- and 26-year-old brothers were shot — the younger brother in his neck, the older brother in his wrist — in a drive-by on Lappin off Schoenherr.
