Latrell Sands, the suspect in a late January homicide during which a 19-year-old man was fatally shot and dumped from a vehicle on the city's west side, has been remanded to Wayne County Jail as he faces a murder charge in the case.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has charged Sands, 21, with felony murder in the death of Sean Watts, 19.

Watts' death took place on Jan. 23 around 4:30 p.m., in the area of Chalfonte and the southbound Southfield Freeway Service Drive, south of Fenkell.

Witnesses reported seeing the occupant of a gold vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, dump a shooting victim out of the car. The man had been shot in his head, eye and neck.

At his arraignment Sunday at 34th District Court in Romulus, Sands was denied bond. He is due in court on April 25 for a probable cause conference, and on May 2 for a preliminary exam, both before Judge Kenneth King.

Medics arrived and transported the man to Sinai-Grace Hospital, but he was dead on arrival.
