Railcars derail in SW Detroit
The Detroit News
Railway crews were working Wednesday night to right train cars that derailed in southwest Detroit with vehicles inside.
City authorities were alerted about the incident near 29th and Michigan at about 9:30 p.m.
Four railcars associated with Canadian National Railway Co. left the tracks, spokesman Patrick Waldron said.
The cause was not yet known, and no injuries were reported, he said. Other details were not released.
Detroit firefighters were called to the scene as a precaution but left once determining the cars did not leak hazardous materials, said Deputy Fire Commissioner David Fornell.
Crews were not expected to block nearby roadways while addressing the derailment, Waldron said.
