Police: Man arrested after attempted hit-and-run

An unidentified male, believed to be 15 to 20 years old, is in critical condition after being hit by a car Saturday night on Detroit's west side.

The 18-year-old man suspected of driving the SUV was arrested, police said.

The crash took place at 8 p.m. in the 19000 block of Evergreen, which is just south of West Seven Mile. 

Police say the victim was crossing Evergreen on foot when he was hit by a blue Dodge Journey.

The driver of the car allegedly tried to continue on driving, but his path was blocked by a citizen, police said. When police arrived, they made the arrest and transported the suspect to the Detroit Detention Center.

Medics conveyed the victim to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
