Police are investigating after an 18-year-old woman was shot in her shoulder during an argument early Tuesday morning on Detroit's west side.

The shooting took place at 3 a.m. on the 1900 block of Sturtevant, said Sgt. Nicole Kirkwood, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That's south of Davison and just west of Rosa Parks.

The victim had been arguing with a man, believed to be 21, who pulled out a gun and fired a shot into her shoulder. After being transported to an area hospital, she was listed in temporary serious condition.
