A 47-year-old man died Sunday night after being shot in his face on Detroit's west side, police said.

The fatal shooting took place about 7:30 p.m. on the 12800 block of Rutherford, which is south of Schoolcraft and west of Greenfield.

The victim and the suspect, for whom only a limited description was available, were engaged in an argument when the suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim at least once in his face.

A witness drove the victim from the scene, toward an area hospital, but he died en route in the back seat, police said. Medics arrived and declared the victim dead at the scene.

The suspect, police say, drove a silver Pontiac Grand Prix.
