A Detroit man has been sentenced to more than 54 years in federal prison for several armed robberies and firearm offenses, officials said.

Carlos Harper, 38, received the sentenced after pleading guilty earlier this year to the charges, according to U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider.

Federal officials said Harper is a serial robber.

They said he and two co-defendants, William Joseph Fields and Roxanne Harper, robbed four businesses in southwest Detroit, including Favi’s Nail Salon, between December 2015 and January 2015.

Carlos Harper and Fields entered businesses wearing scarves over their faces and used aliases in order to conceal their identities, authorities said. They also brandished weapons in the robberies. In one incident, Harper shot and severely injured two women.

Carlos Harper and Fields were arrested by ATF agents and Detroit police.

Fields and Roxanne Harper have each pleaded guilty to charges connected with the robberies and will be sentenced in June.
