Cass Technical High School, at 2501 2nd Ave. on Detroit's west side, is closed Tuesday after a broken pipe in its cooling system created an odor that the district says "must be eradicated" before classes resume, Detroit Public Schools Community District announced.

"We cannot ensure a comfortable temperature, with warmer weather expected and need additional time to remove the odor and clean up any residual water from the broken pipe," the district's statement reads, in part.

The district will update the Cass Tech community later Tuesday on the status of the building.
