Detroit police are investigating after a man's body was found in a Ford Focus Wednesday morning on the city's west side.

Dave Fornell, deputy commissioner of the Detroit Fire Department, said firefighters responded to the 1400 block of Holden on the report of a building fire.

But there was no building fire, there was a car fire, a red 2014 Ford Focus that was “fully engaged.”

And a man’s body, badly burned, was found about 8 feet from the vehicle.

Fornell said Wednesday it was too early to tell if the death is suspicious. The Wayne County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. Police say the man is a black male, possibly about 35 years old.
