Driver killed in crash on west side
A 29-year-old man has been arrested by Detroit police after his vehicle collided with another on the city's west side, killing a 34-year-old man early Saturday.
Police said the incident happened at 12:43 a.m. on northbound Telegraph and west McNichols.
Deputies said the suspect was driving a white 1997 Oldsmobile on Telegraph when he disregarded a traffic light not working due to the power outages.
The suspect should have treated it as a four-way stop, but continued through at a high speed, striking the 34-year-old driving eastbound on west McNichols.
The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
