Detroit cops seek home invasion, attempted sex assault suspect
Detroit police are searching for a man who broke into a woman's house Wednesday and tried to sexually assault her, officials said.
The woman was physically unharmed, they said.
Officers responded to a 5:30 a.m. call about the incident, which happened in the 10300 block of Balfour Road near Whittier Avenue and Interstate 94 on the city's east side, according to authorities.
The victim, 61, told officers she heard someone breaking into her home and called 911, police said.
She then went downstairs to check on the house when she was approached by an unidentified man who attempted to rape her, officials said.
At that moment, she told the officers, their police car pulled up and the suspect fled from her residence, they said.
Police said officers didn't see anyone exit the home.
Anyone with information about the incident should call the Detroit Police Department's Ninth Precinct at (313) 596-5900.
