Suspects sought in Detroit shooting, carjacking
Detroit police are seeking tips to find suspects wanted in connection with a carjacking and shooting Friday that targeted two men on a construction site on the city’s west side.
Two men were returning with building supplies for a construction job in the 2000 block of Philadelphia about 5:20 p.m. when four males approached, investigators said in a statement.
A suspect in the group pulled out a handgun, and one of the men, identified as a 35-year-old, was shot in the thigh as he ran, according to the release.
A second suspect then demanded the man’s 62-year-old companion give up the keys to his black 2015 GMC Sierra and drove off.
The 35-year-old man was privately conveyed to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
Police still are searching for the stolen vehicle, which has a Michigan license plate DJM9197 and “Perfect Remodel” written on the doors.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
