A 26-year-old gas station clerk was arrested Sunday after allegedly shooting and killing a customer following an argument on Detroit’s west side.

The incident happened at 3:50 p.m. in the Citgo station in the 17000 block of West McNichols, according to a preliminary police report.

“Scouts were dispatched to the location for a ‘shooting/cutting,’ ” the report said. “Upon arrival, (officers) reported that the suspect and the victim had exchanged words.

“The suspect then came from behind the partition, produced a handgun (and) fired it, striking the victim once in the chest,” the report said.

The victim, 34, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the report said.
