Boy, 5, tests positive for cocaine, police say
Detroit police are investigating after a 5-year-old boy, whose mother took him to Children's Hospital because he was "acting erratically," tested positive for cocaine.
It was 5:40 p.m. Tuesday when the boy's mother took him to the hospital, which evaluated the boy and administered a drug test.
Police arrived and met with hospital staff and a social worker and learned of the positive result. The department's child abuse unit and Child Protective Services are investigating the incident.
The boy's mother was taken into custody.
