13-year-old escapes attempted abduction in Detroit

Detroit police are searching for a suspect who attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl on the city's west side. 

Police said the incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. Friday on the 19500 block of Berg Road. The girl told police she was approached by the suspect who grabbed her and tried to flee with her. 

The teen struggled with the man and she pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed him in the side. She told police he fell to the ground and she ran home. 

The girl and her mother went to the 8th Precinct to file a police report. She told police the same man attempted to abduct her last year. 

Police describe the suspect as between 20-30 years old, 5'10, 160-170 pounds who was wearing a checkered jacket.
