2 killed in east side Detroit shooting Monday
Detroit Police are searching for a man who shot and killed a man and woman Monday on the city's east side, officials said.
Officials released a photographof suspect, Courtney Joel Hudson, 31, who is considered armed and dangerous.
Detroit Police Capt. Michael McGinnis with the department's Homicide division said the suspect is the female victim's boyfriend and the male victim's cousin.
He also told the media the suspect is encouraged to turn himself in.
The deceased victims are a 38-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, said Dontae Freeman, a Detroit Police Department spokesman.
Investigators believe they know who the man who killed them is, but are not releasing his name at this time, Freeman said. Police are searching for him, he added.
Officers responded to a call about shots fired at about 5:15 p.m. Monday in the 11000 block of College Street near Conner between East McNichols Road and Gratiot Avenue, police said.
They arrived to find emergency medical technicians in the process of transporting a man with a gunshot wound to the head to a hospital, according to Freeman. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
Officers also found a woman who had been shot in the abdomen, officials said. She was privately conveyed to a hospital where she died, Freeman said.
Witnesses told investigators the suspect in the shooting fled the scene in a green, box-style van, police said.
They told police It appears the suspect attempted to shoot the male victim but struck the woman, authorities said. Witnesses also said there was an altercation before the shooting, Freeman said.
