Suspect caught, another sought in Detroit drug store burglary
Police have arrested one of two men who authorities say broke into a drug store on the city's east side early Tuesday morning, officials said.
Officers were called to the Rite Aid drug store in the 17100 block of Harper Avenue near Cadieux Road at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man at the scene.
Investigators believe he broke into the store with the help of another suspect who is still at-large, said DontaeFreeman, a Detroit Police Department spokesman.
He said it appears the suspects were able to enter the store by breaking a gate at the front of the building.
While inside, the suspects broke into the store's pharmacy area and attempted to break into an automated teller machine, Freeman said.
As officers arrived, the suspects fled and one of the men was arrested, police said.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident should call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
