8 finalists selected in Midtown design competition
Detroit – Eight firms have been selected as finalists in a competition to develop an urban and landscape design strategy connecting the 12 educational and cultural institutions in Detroit’s Midtown.
Public presentations in the DIA Plaza and Midtown Cultural Connections competition will be made June 13-14. The competition centers around enhancing the visitor experience in the city’s arts and cultural district.
Three of the firms then will be selected to design and amplify the possibilities of the project. Their public presentations will be held Jan. 23. The winning team is expected to be announced next March.
The Detroit Institute of Arts and Midtown Detroit received 44 submissions representing 10 countries and 22 cities.
