6 held in $1 million marijuana bust in Detroit

Detroit — Six people were arrested Tuesday in a million-dollar drug bust on the city's southwest side, police said. 

Detroit Police Department's Gang Intel Unit executed a search warrant at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, authorities seized about $1 million worth of marijuana from a longstanding operation along the riverfront

The operation, conducted in the 4400 block of West Jefferson, had been in business for a few years, said Officer Dan Donakowski. 

Four men and two women, ranging from 20 to 50 years old, were arrested.

"A week ago, our motor patrol was investigating other cases in the area and smelled weed," Donakowski said. "They informed our Gang Intel Unit and U.S. Border Patrol unit, who also did a work up."
