A 27-year-old  man was carjacked of his Hummer late Saturday night shortly after arriving to visit a friend on Detroit's west side, police said.

The carjacking took place about 9:50 p.m. on the 2000 block of Mullane, which is south of West Vernor and west of Springwells.

The man arrived on the block and noticed a man walking on the opposite side of the street. He looked back again and the man was right behind him. The man ordered the victim to get on the ground, and the victim complied.

The suspect ordered the man to hand over his belongings and he complied, parting ways with his car keys, cell phone and wallet before the suspect drove off in the red 2006 Hummer, with Michigan license plate number DMJ1056.

The Hummer was last seen headed east on West Vernor.

Police describe the suspect as in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds. He has a medium complexion. He was clean shaven with an afro and wore an all-black jogging suit. Throughout the carjacking, police say, the suspect had his hand in a jacket pocket, as if to indicate he had a gun.
