Detroit police responded to two stabbings Wednesday night, one on the city's east side, one on its west side, and made an arrest in one of the cases.

The first stabbing took place at 7 p.m. on the 15000 block of 14th, which is between Fenkell to the south and John C. Lodge to the north on Detroit's west side.

Two women had a verbal altercation which escalated to physical violence, during which a 19-year-old woman was stabbed in her chest. After being privately transported to an area hospital, the victim was listed in critical condition.

No suspect description was offered.

Three hours later, on the 11000 block of St. Patrick, a 28-year-old man was stabbed twice in what police believe is a domestic violence incident.

The victim and a 31-year-old woman got into a verbal argument that escalated into physical violence, during which the man was stabbed twice. Medics transported him to an area hospital, where he's listed in critical condition.

Police arrested the 31-year-old woman accused of stabbing the 28-year-old.
