A 30-year-old man is in temporary serious condition after being shot early Friday morning on Detroit's west side.

Detroit police spokesman Dontae Freeman said the shooting happened at about 2:50 a.m. in the area of Schoolcraft and Evergreen roads.

Police are investigating the incident, he said. The suspects are not known at this time, he also said.

Officials said the victim told police he was walking in the area when he heard gun shots, felt pain and noticed he had been shot.

The man was privately conveyed to a hospital, police said.
