A 25-year-old man died Saturday night after allegedly being shot by his cousin during an argument between the two men on Detroit's west side, police said.

The killing happened at 7 p.m. in the area of Lawton and Hooker, which is south of West Grand Boulevard and west of Linwood.

Police say the victim and his male cousin, for whom no description was offered, argued and the argument escalated beyond words into physicality. The cousin then allegedly pulled a gun and shot the victim three times in his chest and once in his back.

After being privately taken to an area hospital, the victim died.
