Two men in their 20s were shot early Monday near Woodward Avenue, north of West McNichols, police said.

The double shooting took place at 4:23 a.m., on the 300 block of Covington, and involves a person police describe as a "known suspect."

Circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear, said Officer Holly Lowe, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman.

Lowe said the two victims, ages 21 and 23, were shot by a person who escaped on Covington in a silver van. The 21-year-old victim was left in stable condition; the 23-year-old victim was listed in critical condition Monday.
