A 26-year-old Detroit man will turn 27 at the Wayne County Jail as he awaits his next hearing in a woman's Nov. 2017 death after being denied bond at his arraignment Sunday.

Mario Tipton was denied bond on a charge of second degree murder. He faces charges related to the death of Charsha Miller, who died days after being hit with a two-by-four during a fight.

The fight happened at 5 a.m. on Nov. 11, on the 8300 block of Sussex, which is south of Joy Road and east of Greenfield.

After an argument between the victim, and three people, one of them, a 23-year-old woman, hit the victim in the head with the wood and fled the scene. She died days later.  Police declined to give further details on what Tipton's specific role in the incident.

Tipton is scheduled for a probable cause conference on June 27, and a preliminary examination on July 3, both before Third Circuit Court Judge William McConico.

In March, Tipton got probation for assaulting a Detroit police officer in an incident that took place in February. The Michigan Department of Corrections reported Tipton's mandatory drug tests had all come out negative; he reported regularly to his probation officer and he'd recently gotten a job.
